Oakum Docka is a traditional, natural filler made from flax fibres soaked in pine (Stockholm) tar, ideal for sealing joints, plugging gaps in timber, or filling seams and larger holes. Originally developed for shipbuilding, it's now used in timber restoration, joinery, and window refurbishment. The fibres are packed into wedge-shaped seams or voids, then sealed over with linseed oil putty and a coat of linseed oil paint for a durable, weather-tight finish. The material can be easily torn into smaller pieces for precise applications.

Key Features:

  • Traditional, breathable caulking made from tarred flax fibres
  • Perfect for sealing seams between planks or around window frames in heritage timber work
  • Easily torn to size; great for bespoke repair tasks
  • Effective when recessed and covered with linseed putty and paint

Coverage Guide:

  • 1 kg will fill approximately 4 to 5 linear metres (13–16 ft), depending on gap size

Available In:
